Our Services
Soil health testing
Our team offers comprehensive soil testing for home gardeners, community gardens, non-profit organizations, farmers, and grassroots initiatives. We strive to provide you with all the information to cultivate thriving, healthy soil for your project. Our team will work with you to integrate information about site history and previous land management while ensuring a path towards optimal soil health for your project. Our team ensures wrap-around support for soil health testing, including site surveys, soil sample, sample processing, laboratory testing, analysis, and interpretation of results.
Soil consultations
Are you facing challenges with your soil—compaction, poor plant vigor, malnutrition? Our team specializes in helping farmers, gardeners, and organizations better understand their soil. We have worked with dozens of growers across California, from small market gardens to larger vegetable and fruit producers. We use a combination of field studies, soil testing, and site surveys to bring you the most comprehensive information possible about the condition of your operation.
Research
Our team has years of experience in conducting scientific research on soil health and agroecology. We are available to conduct rigorous scientific studies and support your organization, project, or program to document the trajectory of your soil. Some of our previous projects have included an on-farm study of the effects of no-till across farms in Northern California, a long-term field study comparing tillage and cover cropping practices on an urban farm, and studying the hydrologic and biotic impacts of a regenerative farming model over time.
Community education
We love supporting all forms of community education: from workshops to internships to classes of all ages. Collaborate with our team to bring expert soil scientists into your educational program. Some of the kinds of programs we have run before are on-farm internships in agroecology, college-level courses, year-long apprenticeships, workshops, community skill shares, and many more.
